Volunteer Dinner 2011
Volunteers at the museum have all the fun. This was evident at the December dinner held in their honor at the museum. A scavenger hunt kicked off the festivities. Sammy J's Deli prepared a fantastic buffet, featuring the world's best lasagna and yummy desserts.

Everyone present received a keepsake ring. Awards were given from Top Captain to Museum Docents. The year's volunteer activities were discussed along with memorable tour moments. The event wound up with a rousing version of Neal Diamond's "Sweet Caroline."

Summer Island Tour 2011
More than 100 tickets were sold for the 2011 Island Tour and $10,000 was raised for the society and the Museum. The visitors first traveled to Circle Island aboard the Queen of the Lake, for drinks and light refreshments. The Queen then took them to Compass Point for a wonderful dinner and entertainment.

The warm evening with breezes blowing softly across Buckeye Lake created a memorable evening for everyone that attended.

Annual Membership Dinner 2011
A star studded evening would describe the Buckeye Lake Historical Society's 2011, Annual Awards Dinner, held at the historic Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. Seventy members attended the gala event participating in the wonderfully themed "A Night at the Oscars."

Upon arrival, members were photographed on the red carpet in all the glory of a Hollywood setting. Many awards and plaques were handed out for outstanding volunteers and special recognition of member's service.

trek-triathlon
TREK-WOMAN'S-TRIATHLON
Wrapping up the summer of 2010's events was the Ohio Trek-Woman's-Triathlon held in the Millersport Brooke's Park. The Buckeye Lake Museum and Licking County Visitors and Convention Bureau sponsored the event which drew 350 participants.

Each woman competes in a 0.5-mile swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. You can be an elite athlete or a first time competitor.

ADDITION FINISHED
Fourth of July 2010 was a Red, White and Bang affair as the addition to the Historical Museum was completed. The new addition added 450 sq. ft. to the museum and features an all glass viewing area towards Walnut Road, displaying the dazzling Rocket Ride.

big bands
BIG BANDS
Wonderful Big Band sounds drifted from Picnic Point across Buckeye Lake in 2009 and 2010. Featured groups for the concerts were the Rick Brunetto Big Band and the Paul Clark Party Band.

memorial day float
MEMORIAL DAY 2009
During the 2009 Memorial Day Weekend many activities took place, including the Parade, which featured Zenna Sayre as the Grand Marshall. The first ever Little Miss Buckeye Lake contest was held with Paige as the winner.

The Lakewood band delighted the crowds and Historical Society President Fred Bair rode in the museum Rocket Ship. Shown in the photo is the KOS Campground float.

ice cream boat
ICE CREAM BOAT
The 2009 boating season saw the launch of the Historical Society's new and very popular Ice Cream Boat. The traveling vessel serves both other boaters and homes along the shoreline.

The hours for the ice cream boat are Saturday and Sunday 1- 5 pm.

2008 AWARDS DINNER
Every year the Society honors our volunteers. The 2008 dinner was held at the Waterford Towers in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Top Cranberry Bog Tour Guide, Rae LeCompte, left, compiled 33 tours for the 2008 season

GROUNDBREAKING
In the fall of 2008 the groundbreaking took place for our addition to the museum. Although the Addition plans were not fully developed, the ground breaking ceremony was held early, due the medical condition of benefactor Norma Dixon. Norma passed away on March 8th, 2009.
