On October 10, 2008 members and friends of the GBLHS gathered at the Museum to break ground for our third expansion. Shown far left, Museum Director J-me Braig. Turning the ground for the new Museum Addition are L to R: Benefactor Norma Dixon, Society President Fred Blair and Board Member John Hoermle. Although the Addition plans were not fully developed, the ground breaking ceremony was held early, due the medical condition of Norma Dixon. Norma passed away on March 8th, 2009. The new "front" on the museum was made possible through Norma's estate. The sale of some of her bear and doll collections made this beautiful addition possible. The new addition will be named in her memory." |

The new addition will add 450 sq. ft. to the museum. It will feature an all glass viewing area towards Walnut Road, displaying the dazzling Rocket Ride. The design of the addition will blend nicely with the present museum. The cost of this third addition to the museum is $60,000 using donated funds, society funds and hopefully more donations. A fourth addition is currently in the planning stage and will be added to the back of the museum, featuring an enlarged display area. Architect for the third addition is Bogden Architects of Columbus. Tim Wilson is the contractor using Grosse Builders of Hebron.
Half of the $10,000 Nana Wall feature has been donated by life member and Buckeye Lake native, Tom James, in honor of his mother and father. We are still seeking additional donations for the project. Hopefully, some other members will come forward so they can also be a part of this fantastic Nana Wall. http://www.nanawall.com |

J-me Braig explains how the new Museum Addition will look on the inside. A replica of the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park entrance will be painted on the back wall of the new addition. Parked in front of that scene will be the restored Rocket Ship ride from the park. The scene will be fully illuminated at night for a thrilling presentation at the front of the Historical Society Museum. Special meetings, Dinners and Open Houses will be held in the new space, as the Rocket Ship can be moved outside, though the Nana-Wall.
